Venture out into streets lined with Victorian boutiques, antique shops or a whole underground network of commercial centres. From downtown chic to Old Montreal charm, the incredible choice is yours.
Adjacent to the Hyatt Regency Montreal, most of the shopping gallery at Complexe Desjardins surrounds the immense public plaza located in the heart of the building. Shoppers enjoy a pleasant and relaxing decor and setting while having access to a large variety of shops and restaurants.
110 shops and restaurants , including:
· 38 Fashion Shops
· 9 Restaurants, including 4 with table service
· Food Court with 1000 seats, including 16 restaurants
· Health services
· Specialized commercial services
· Financial services
· A grocery store
· Underground Shopping
The world's largest underground pedestrian network shelters Montrealers from both the scorching heat of summer and the frigid winter winds. More than 30 kilometres of passageways link the stations of Montreal's Metro and contain (at last count) 1,600 boutiques, 200 restaurants, 34 cinemas and 1,600 apartments. Some 500,000 people use it every day. Although the area stays open as long as the Metro stations themselves, the best time to visit is between 9am-11am and 2pm-4pm, when it is least crowded.
· Eaton Centre
705 Ste-Catherine Street West
Named for the now-defunct Eaton's, once one of Canada's most recognizable trademarks, this bright, airy complex still attracts shoppers in search of name brand merchandise all under one roof.
· St-Catherine Street
Downtown has always been identified with Sainte-Catherine Street, Montreal's renowned commercial thoroughfare. Stretching for 15 kilometres across the city from east to west, the Street is lined with the major department stores, shops and restaurants that have been the pride of Montreal for more than a century. Today, Sainte-Catherine Street is busier than ever, as more and more office towers shoot up all around it, blending with the underground shopping malls to which it connects. No fewer than eight metro stations (the green line running parallel) serve the Street, allowing visitors to discover diverse neighbourhoods as they travel along.
Plateau Mont-Royal, in the heart of Montreal, is often compared with "hip" neighbourhoods in many of the world's great cities. These are the stomping grounds of the young, the urban and the professional. Lively bars, restaurants and cafs, define the Plateau's unique landscape where Montrealers love to be seen. One-of-a-kind boutiques, fashion designers, well-known theatres and a friendly atmosphere are all waiting for visitors, just minutes away from downtown. The easy-going, welcoming Plateau is the perfect place to discover another face of Montreal. Guided tours and bicycle rentals are also available to help visitors soak up the neighbourhood ambience.
Bus: "747 bus" is the shuttle service from the airport to the Montreal Central Bus Station. Travel time may vary between 45 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Wi-Fi service is available on most 747 buses.
